11 bwin team members through to Day 3!

23:16 UTC May 8, 2009 Liam Clark

With the field down to 36 players, play has just come to a end here on Day 2 of the WPT Venice. What a fantastic result for the bwin team with 11 of our players heading on through to the Day 3 and guaranteed to take home at least 8,300€. LocStaOnFire and nammer4life continued to lead the way for the team, both finishing on huge stacks of over 200k, and French player vincent582 came out of nowhere to finish on 258k. A fair chunk of those chips came on the penultimate hand of the day when he knocked out team mate BonniePBilly.

BonniePBilly finishes in 39th place – 7,600€

22:39 UTC May 8, 2009 Liam Clark

Danish team member BonniePBilly has just earned himself 7,600€ by coming in 39th place in the WPT Venice. BonniePBilly was eliminated by fellow team member vincent582 in a huge bug hand that sent vincent582 to the top of the bwin team chip count.

The hand started with a battle of the blinds, with our very own vincent582 raising from cut off to 20k and BonniePBilly pushing with 100k from the button. The blinds folded and vincent582 made the call and turned over JcJh. BonniePBilly reluctantly showed his As8d. The board ran out with 5sTh6s5d9c and BonniePBilly was out and vincent582 moved up to a very handy 250k.

French player pokerng survived the bubble with just 41k and not surprisingly got his chips in the middle just a few hands after the bubble burst.

pokerng pushed pre-flop with Ks 9s and was called by an opponent with As 9c. The flop came 7h Ah Jc 2h Kh and pokerng’s WPT journey finished in 45th spot and 7,600€ for his effort. Great work fella!

This Bubble Has Burst…

21:32 UTC May 8, 2009 Daniel Willis

With 45 players left in Michael Binger is our unfortunate bubble boy. It went down with Mike McDonald holding 2s2d vs Bingers AcQd. So now we’re in the money and starting off with the payouts of 7600€ and only to go up and up, make sure you stay tuned for more!

Bubble time!

21:00 UTC May 8, 2009 Liam Clark

Here we go! Just one more bust and then we are in the money!

Play is now hand for hand and the tension in the Casino di venezia Poker Room is simply amazing. Every time any player starts to take some time over a decision a huge crowd gathers around the table. Just to spice things up there is a 700€ bounty on the player who busts the bubble boy! Nice!

LocStaOnFire chips up as the bubble approaches

20:55 UTC May 8, 2009 Liam Clark

Wow! With the bubble approaching I thought the action might have started to slow down, but there is no stopping it today!

Where to start? Well, French team member LocStaOnFire has made the biggest move of the bwin team members since the last update, chipping up to a massive 235k by dominating his table and taking a huge pot from American pro Michael McDonald. LocStaOnFire and McDonald are easily the most aggressive players on their table and the two locked horns in a hand that sent LocStaOnFire from the middle of the pack right up to the top 10.

The Hand started with LocStaOnFire three betting and McDonald making the call. The flop the came J♣7♣2♠, LocStaOnFire checked it down and McDonald checked behind. A 5♠ came on the river, LocStaOnFire fired out 30k and McDonald called. The river then showed with a 7x and LocStaOnFire fired out another 40k, McDonald took his time and again flatted. LocStaOnFire showed J♠J♦ for the flopped set, rivered full house and McDonald mucked and sent a huge pot to LocStaOnFire.

LocStaOnFire is.. well on fire!

nammer4life is also looking set for his first cash at a bwin live event, just cruising on 191k. It will be fantastic story if nammer4life does finally get up for a cash after his heartbreaking elimination to a 2 outer on the bubble at the 2007 WSOPE.

KristapsK3 and CorpseGr busted

19:46 UTC May 8, 2009 Liam Clark

Two more team veterans have just been eliminated agonizingly close to the money with KristapsK3 and CorpseGr both getting busted in pretty crushing style.

First up Latvian team veteran KristapsK3 was out in 54th place when in a pretty sick three way pot. The action started with UTG raising to 8k from Seat 1 (blinds 1500/3000/400), KristapsK3 called from SB leaving 90k behind as did BB. The flop came A♥J♥T♣ KristapsK3 checked it, Seat 2 bet 10k and Seat 3 called. KristapsK3 went to the tank before pushing all in over the top. Both players then called, with Seat 1 leaving on 9k behind.

A K♥ came on the turn and Seat 1 pushed his 9k straight in. Seat 3 called and turned over A♣J♠ for two pair whilst seat 1 show KxQx for the flopped straight. Kristaps shook his head and showed T♥T♠ for the flopped set. All hope wasn’t lost for KristapsK3 he had a good chance for the win with a flush draw and if the board paired, but a 9♣ sent the friendly Latvian to the rails crushed.

Things got even worse for the team a few minutes later when corpseGr pushed all-in preflop with 8x8x only to run into KxKh. The board ran out with 4 hearts, giving corpseGR’s opponent a flush and the disappointed German was out in 52nd.

Ilawa busts Kang and pokerng takes down mienam

19:05 UTC May 8, 2009 Liam Clark

Ilawa has just got some breathing space by busting PokerStars Pro Benjimen Kang. Both players were starting to get a short with not much more than 30K when Ilawa pushed pre-flop with AxKx. Kang called with KxKx, but an Ax on the flop gave Ilawa a much needed injection of chips and moved him back up over 60k.

As a result of Ilawa busting Kang, Table 8 was broken and pokerng was sent to Table 5 where he found himself seated next to team mate mienam. Just a few hands in, mienman pushed all in on SB after a raise from Dario Minieri UTG. pokerng on BB then pushed all in over the top and Minieri went to the tank before folding JxJx face up. “He’s got Aces” Minieri told the table. Minieri was right, pokerng turned over his A♦A♣ to have miennam’s 6♠6♣ pretty much cooked. A blank board and pokerng pocketed a 90k pot.
