Daumbeech and nammer4life dominating

17:23 UTC May 8, 2009 Liam Clark

Despite the carnage everywhere around them, Daumbeech and nammer4life have been dominating their respective so far today. Daumbeech started the day on 65k and more than doubled his stack to be in second place overall with almost 160k. Canadian team vet nammer4life said this morning he wanted an action table and he certainly got it, getting involved in lots of pots and moving up to 5th on the chip count with 140k.

It’s not a all good news however; French team member Capri15 crazy day just took an sombre turn when he pushed pre flop with A♥T♥, but after winning about 5 showdowns in a row, he couldn’t come from behind to crack Italian pro Dario Minieri’s AxAx.

Chip counts for the team are hard to come by at the moment, with so much action tables are being broken all over the place and it’s hard to keep track of all the players. We’ll bring you a full list as soon as we can. Blinds have just moved to 1000/2000with a 200 ante and there are only 81 players remaining, just over a half of the starter field!

The big names fall…

17:01 UTC May 8, 2009 Liam Clark

The bwin team has just lost some of its biggest names with team veterans Puggy82, Sirin-22 and neilMc all busted within in the space of a few minutes.

After starting the day with only 18k, Puggy got a few hands early and tried to make some moves, but couldn’t find any callers. With his stack dwindling, Puggy82 found himself on SB and moved all in again with Jx3x, this time he found a caller on BB who turned over K♦Q♦. A Jx put Puggy in the lead, but a A♦ on the turn gave his opponent all sorts of outs with straight and flush draws as well as over a cards, and the river brought a Tx to send Puggy to the pub.

Not long after seeing Puggy go down, attention turned to Sirin-22 who was all-in preflop with 9x9x against BB’s TxTx. Sirin-22 had raised from the cut off only to be re-raised all-in by a super aggressive player on BB. Sirin-22 thought he was in a good spot with his nines, but when his opponent showed tens he was in big trouble and when the board ran out with no help it was time to join Puggy on the rails. Sirin-22 is currently being sponsored by bwin as the winner of PokerIsland and he will now be looking to his next event, The 2009 WSOP Main Event for a big cash.

neilMc then made it three veterans out in ten minutes when he pushed from SB over some limpers with Kx8x, only for teammate capri15 to call from BB with Ax8x. The double up for capri15 marked an incredible run where the French team member as he rebounded from as low as 1.8k to now be sitting on just over 60k.

Action everywhere!

15:48 UTC May 8, 2009 Liam Clark

Day 2 has just started here at Casino di Venezia and the action has come thick and fast with bwin team members making moves on just about every table.

First up Sharkie789 pushed his short stack in with Q♣Q♠ but was eliminated when he ran into a dreaded AxAx. Moments later Capri15 shoved with T♣T♦ and was called by team mate mienman with A♦7♥. The bwinners were off to the races and a A♣ on the flop was enough for mienman to double up and cripple Capri15 down to just under 5k.

Young Austrian team member Weniotto was the next player in the spotlight, when facing a raise from EP, he shoved his 15k in from MP with KxQx. BB then min re-raised and EP folded. BB turned over TxTx and Weniotto racing for his tournament life. Unfortunately for the Austrian Ace the board blanked and his WPT Venice journey was over. Despite his elimination Weniotto was still upbeat and wanted to send a shout out to his local football team ASKÖ Pregarten

German team member indrich started the day with 12k and made his move with A♠4♠ and found a caller with Kx8x. indrich was still ahead after the flop, but a Kx on the turn ended indrich’s tournament. Another short stack at the start of the day was tamebeast and Danish team member got his chips in with JxJx. he looked good to double up when his got called by 7x7x, but a nasty 7x sent another to the rails.

In good news, KristapsK3 just took down a big pot when he was the second called to a pre flop shove from a short stack. Kristaps and his opponent checked down the board and his 5x5x was enough to take the pot before moving his stack up above the 50k mark.

The first level is just about to finish and the blinds will move up to 800/1600 with a 200 ante. 119 players are still remaining.

Bring on Day 2!

14:19 UTC May 8, 2009 Liam Clark

Here we go! Play is about to kick off here on Day 2 of the WPT Venice and 40 bwin team members are ready and raring to go! Canadian team veteran nammer4life is best placed to make a big run for the money with 83,950 in chips, placing him in ninth place overall on the chip count.

I caught up with nammer this morning on the boat into the Casino and he said he was very relaxed after having the day off yesterday to see the sights of Venice. He is looking forward to the day and hoping he can he would be seated on an a table where there was lots of action.

Day 1b sends seven more bwinners to Day 2

01:40 UTC May 8, 2009 admin

Day 1b of the WPT Venice has just come to a close here at the Casino di Venezia and it was another great day for the bwin team. Seven of our players have made it through to Day 2 to join the 31 team members who booked their Day 2 seat yesterday.

CorpseGR finished at the top of the pile for bwin, taking a very healthy 63,450 into tomorrows play. Ilawa also finished strongly to have 49,325 and will be joined by freetcha, dob80, ilawa, LocStaOnFire, Indrich and tamebeast on Day 2.

CorpseGR cracks Aces … freetcha triples

00:11 UTC May 8, 2009 admin

CorpseGr has been in the action again, this time taking down another big pot by cracking Aces. In a preflop raise, re-raise, push sequence CorpseGr put all his chips in against a relatively short opponent. His opponent insta-called and turned over A♦A♣ against CorpseGr’s A♠K♠. Our German team veteran was praying to see some spades on the flop and he got his wish with 7♥J♠8♠ giving him the draw. A 3♠ on the turned sealed the deal and CorpseGR moved up to 55k whilst sending his heartborken opponent to the rail.

CorpseGr is running hot!

CorpseGr is running hot!

One seat to CorpseGR’s right is fellow team member freetcha and just a few hands after CorpseGR took down his big pot, freetcha was also involved in some pretty crazy pre-flop action.

In EP and looking down at Q♦Q♣, freetcha led out with a raise before from MP re-raise and a call form BB. freetcha then moved his remaining 5k all in before MP pushed his huge stack all in in over the top. The third player didn’t like what he was seeing an folded Q♠Q♥ face up. freetcha then turned over his Q♦Q♣ and was relieved when his opponent showed J♦J♣. The board blanked, and freetcha basically tripled up and moved to a very healthy 39,800.

CorpseGR and mrbasso333 chipin’ on up

23:35 UTC May 7, 2009 admin

The seventh level of today’s play has just been completed and bwin team members CorpseGR and mrbasso333 have both just doubled up to over 35k. Firstly team veteran CorpseGR doubled up when his K♣K♥ held up against A♣J♣ in a preflop all in battle and he chipped up to 36k.

A few hands later mrbasso333 won a huge pot when he pushed all in on a AxQx6xAx board with Ax4x and found a caller with KxQx. mrbasso333 raked in 41k pot and shot to the top of the bwin team chip count.

On the other side of the coin French player x Gusgus x has just been sent to the rails. She had gotten dangerously short and, after surviving one all-in showdown with A♦7♣ vs A♥8♥ when she got a split, she pushed again a few hands later but her 9♣9♦ couldn’t hold up against A♦7♥. x Gusgus x was upbeat despite her elimination and left the table with a big smile on her face after thanking everyone at the table and wishing them all good luck.

04wil also busted during that level when his A♦J♦ ran into A♥A♣ preflop. The live event newbie was down yes, but certainly not out. “I couldn’t have qualified for a better event” he told us in a post bust interview. “I came here by winning a Freeroll and just look at this place, it’s fantastic, the whole event has been great!”. That’s what we like to hear!

Here are the latest chip stacks;

mrbasso333 – 41k
CorpseGR -36k
dob80 – 22k
LocStaOnFire – 21k
tamebeast – 21k
ilawa – 21k
PokeR-Hood – 15k
freetcha – 14k
King_Dirk – 13k
indrich – 12.3k
simi1127 – 11k
KickerKeni – 9.4k

Alright well there is two more levels of play today and the blinds have just moved to 300/600 with a 75 ante. The average stack of the 90 remaining players is 31,166 and Tom Rafferty 85,000.

You Gotta Know When To Fold Kids!

You Gotta Know When To Fold Kids!

Although he busted out yesterday during the last level 2AcesRob was still full of smiles and laughter and more than keen on railing his team mates during day 1B.

A self confessed newbie to the live event scene 2AcesRob told us that he’d learnt more here in the short space of a few hours than months and months of playing on-line. So what was the biggest lesson he’d learnt during his short time here in Venice. “Patience….you just gotta have it” grinned our new Dutch friend, truer words were never spoken.

swizzero busted by Chad Brown’s Aces

22:12 UTC May 7, 2009 admin

Swiss player swizzero has just been busted with his pocket six’s running into American pro Chad Brown’s pocket Aces in a big three way pot.

The hand started with a short stack shoving from the EP with about 3k. Chad Brown then flat called and swizzero looked down on his 6x6x and pushed all in over the top with 10k. Brown snap called and turned over his AxAx. The board blanked for all players and Brown eliminated two players, picked up a nice pot and ended swizzero’s tournament.
