1519 runners turned out for last Sunday's ChampionChip at bwin, with a hefty field of 1,519 runners generating a prize pool that topped $288,000, with the winner slated to take home just over $56,000. Not too shabby a payday at all, but it'd be a tough road to claim the ChampionChip title, as it took nearly 11 hours of tense play for a winner to be declared.
And who was that winner you ask? None other than al_capone35, who took down sak31 in heads-up play to take 1st place and $56,278 in prize money. sak31 not only collected $35,787 for his runner-up finish, but this was his second big score this month, as he took down $92,380 in GSOP #15 for his runner-up finish there as well. It's never fun to finish 2nd, but if you're going to do so at least have the good fortune to finish 2nd in two of the biggest tournaments bwin offers.
