We're just one day away from the action getting underway in the 2010 Irish Open Main Event, which sports a €3,200 + €300 buy-in. Last year's Main Event featured 700 runners, with 39 year-old Christer Johansson of Sweden taking down 1st place for a very nice payday of €600,000.
With the bwin Team sending more than 50 players to the 2010 Irish Open, there's a very good chance that the turnout will eclipse last's year mark of 700, with an even bigger prizepool to shoot for. As far as the bwin Team roster, Germany leads the way with 11 players on the Team, followed by France (6 players), Switzerland (4 players), and Hungary (4 players). In total 18 different countries are represented on the Team, so it's quite the international effort.
There are also some Team members in action with pretty impressive poker resumes. LocStaOnFire is fresh off a huge cash of €350,000 for his 3rd place finish at EPT Berlin, and he's also had nice scores at the 2009 Belgium Open Poker Championships, the 2009 WPT Venice event, and his first big cash with the Team at the 2007 WPT Niagara Falls.
Wieringen was the winner of the 2009 Rigged in Riga event where he collected €29,000, and also had a deep run in a side event at the Master Classics of Poker 2009.
King_Dirk has been running well at live events himself, just missing the final table at the 2010 EPT Snowfest and 2009 EPT Warsaw events, and notching two cashes at the 2009 Aussie Millions with the Team.
ChipLieder85 has had plenty of live success with the Team as well, cashing at the 2009 WSOP as well as at the 2009 Aussie Millions.
