Last week saw the first stop on the bwin Magic Moments of Poker tour, with the bwin Team descending on Madrid for an amazing weekend of poker, football, and fun.

As is the case with any bwin live event, the seven bwin players who qualified were in for the trip of a lifetime, with highlights including the red carpet treatment at restaurants and clubs, luxurious hotel accommodations, sightseeing adventures, and VIP access to a match between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid (with the teams battling to a 1-1 tie.)

But all of that amazing action was just an introduction to the real point of the trip: a private tournament for the seven players held on the lawn of the Bernabéu Stadium, that would see the winner qualify for the Magic Moments of Poker final to be held later in Vienna, where a bwin poker pro sponsorship deal worth $100,000 will be up for grabs.

Here was the lineup of bwin players in Madrid trying to win their way to the finals:

Seat 1 - monikacermak
Seat 2 - mundl0815
Seat 3 - zolika0726
Seat 4 - x maxibon111
Seat 5 - Iweitsch1
Seat 6 - dmx091202
Seat 7 - fanslau

With a great structure featuring large starting stacks and slow blind levels, the early action was cautious and careful, especially with the cameras rolling and all of the players experiencing for the first time what it's like to play televised poker.

After hours of tense play, the field was finally whittled down to the following three players:

Iweitsch1 - 66,500 chips
monicacermak - 23,000 chips
mundl0815 - 16,500 chips

mundl0815 and his short stack would soon fall to Iweitsch1, with mundl0815 shoving pre-flop with A♥ K♣ and Iweitsch1 making the call from the BB with J♦ 9♣. Iweitsch1 took the lead when a J came on the flop, and sealed the deal when a 9 came on the turn.

After more than 6 hours of player, heads-up action finally began, with the following stacks:

Iweitsch1 - 73,400 chips
monicacermak - 36,600 chips

Iweitsch1 aggressively took charge, chipping monicacermak down to just 10,000 chips, when the final hand occurred. He put monicacermak all-in, who called with K♥ 9♣ but would need help, up against Iweitsch1's A♦ 8♠. Iweitcsch1's hand would hold, giving him the well-deserved victory and a spot in the Magic Moments of Poker finals.

With the action in Madrid complete, all eyes now turn to Milan in late March for the next stop on the Magic Moments of Poker tour, with qualification for the third stop on the tour at MotoGP-Jerez currently running now.
