Nations CupThe WSOP has just announced plans to host a brand new series of mini-events which will pit players from famous heads-up battles in past Main Events against one another to see if history will repeat itself the second time around.

Scheduled to run during the upcoming WSOP in Las Vegas, the first two rematches will see Sammy Farha and Chris Moneymaker face off in one, with Phill Helmuth and Johnny Chan doing battle in the other.

Moneymaker's 2003 win as an amateur over Farha has been credited by many as a key factor in the poker boom that occurred shortly thereafter, and Hellmuth became the youngest Main Event champion ever at the the time in 1989 when he prevented Chan from winning his amazing third straight Main Event title.

There will also be a third rematch held, with poker fans getting the say on which two players square off by voting on the WSOP's official Facebook page. Below are the matchups that fans will be able to vote on:

1988 WSOP Main Event: Johnny Chan vs. Erik Seidel
2004 WSOP Main Event: Greg Raymer vs. David Williams
2006 WSOP Main Event: Jamie Gold vs. Paul Wasicka
2010 WSOP Main Event: Jonathan Duhamel vs. John Racener
