bwin Team member A KIA has just been eliminated from the final table of the PokerNews Cup Alpine in 9th position. A KIA started the day with a short stack of 74,100 and things got worse on the 2nd hand of the day when A KIA came up against chip leader Mark Vos and, after trying to defend his BB, he ended up folding away 20k.

A KIA then pushed all-in twice within a few rotations, but found no takers. With the three other short stacks at the table then doubling up, A KIA clearly became the shortest stack at the table and looked like he running out of time to make a move. With the blinds increasing to 3000/6000/500 A KIA shoved from EP and the action was folded around to Joseph Buhmann on BB who only needed to put in another 15 to make the call. Buhmann somewhat reluctantly chucked the extra 15K in the middle and turned over 7♣8♦ and A KIA turned over 9♦T♣ to be leading the race.

With a huge crowd around the feature table, the dealer put out a flop of 8♥K♦T♠ to give A KIA pair of tens, but also pairing Buhmann’s 8♦. The turn then came with Q♣, meaning A KIA just had to dodge 4 outs on the river when another player announced that had folded a 7x. But as has been the case all week, the poker gods were not kind to the bwin team and a very ugly 8♣ dropped on th river to give Buhmann trips. A KIA gallantly stood up from the table, shook everyone’s hand and wished them good luck as he received a warm round of applause from the crowd.

A KIA’s 9th place was good for €4,820 and the result marks his second final table finish at a PokerNews Cup Event after his 2nd place in the $550 No Limit Holdem Six Handed Event at the 2008 PokerNews Cup Melbourne ($17,573).

A KIA actually hadn’t heard of the bwin team before PokerNews Cup Melbourne, but saw the team having such a good time and decided that he would like to qualify for an event with bwin. A KIA signed up for his bwin account and before he knew it he had qualified for PokerNews Cup Alpine for only $1! That $1 has been turned into a $8,700 premium package and now €4,820 in tournament winnings!

Congtrats A KIA! It was a pleasure to have you on the team and I’m sure we will see you at another bwin team live event trip very soon.

With A KIA’s exit from the PokerNews Cup Alpine Main Event, that concludes the poker action for the trip. It was a great result for the team to get three players in money and big congratulations also go to _Aasisdebaas (€3,100) and mr.Schne (€3,100) who also played so well for their 10th and 12th places respectively.

Well that’s it for today folks, but make sure you stay tuned to the bwin Pokerblog as we have plenty more still to come with the team set for a big farewell party tonight. Also, if you like the sound of idea samsampson(billybillard), Sirin-22 and -NUTS6020- smoking cigars and drinking champagne in a hot tub then make sure you keep an eye on the blog as we will be posting a pretty special video featuring our team veterans enjoying the wonderful facilities of the Apline Palace Hotel.
